Urbino was more than just Raphael’s city of birth; it had a profound influence on his development as an artist and remained an essential reference point for him throughout his life.
For this reason, the great exhibition being put on in the “Palazzo Ducale” (Duke’s Palace) in Urbino seeks to rediscover and celebrate this close bond between Raphael and his home town.
Borgo Belfiore lies at an altitude of 1300 feet on the outskirts of the little village of Montefortino and is an ideal venue for nature lovers seeking peace and tranquillity. The views are spectacular; walking, cycling and horse riding are great ways to discover the local natural environs. Belfiore is also a good starting point to explore the rich history and art of Le Marche, also called ”New Tuscany” with the vibrant towns of Pesaro, Urbino, Fabriano, Corinaldo, Jesi and the pilgrimage town of Loreto. The Dutch/German proprietors, Susanne and Pieter, live at Belfiore and guarantee good hospitality, cosiness and excellent service.
